Below is a number of tips for success in writing quizzes in our courses:

  1. These are open book quizzes. Have the printed study guides or have another computer screen with the electronic study guides open and ready when you write. (Note: study guides are optional but can be very helpful).

  2. Study well so you are very familiar with the content.

  3. Read the question 3 times. It does not take any more time, and it increases your chance of choosing the correct answer:

    1. Get an idea of what is being asked.

    2. Identify key words, such as “what would you do first”, etc.

    3. Answer the question.

  4. Use the “Flag question” feature of the quiz questions (see screen shot below): answer the question to the best of your ability; however, if you are unsure of your answer, flag it, and come back to the question later in the quiz if time permits.

  5. If you don't pass on the 1st attempt; don't panic, and don't try to write it right away again, for 2 reasons:

    1. The quiz questions are randomly selected from the bank, so if you have to re-write, quizzes will not be identical.

    2. Take time to review your quiz attempts and look things up so you are well prepared for the rewrite.

  6. You have 2 attempts per quiz. If you do not pass after 1 attempt and would like to discuss course content, contact the educator for the course.
